On September 16, 2020 Bookanakere Siddalingappa(B.S.) Yediyurappa, Chief Minister(CM) of Karnataka has launched ‘Arthika Spandana’ programme to disburse loans of Rs 39,300 crore through various cooperative institutions. Under this scheme, Rs 15,300 crore will be disbursed to the agriculture sector and the remaining sum of Rs 24,000 will be earmarked for the non-agricultural sector.
During the launch he issued cheques for loans to 50 beneficiaries.
About Arthika Spandana
The primary agricultural cooperatives will be upgraded to multi-service centres under the scheme. 1,549 cooperatives will be benefited by this scheme.
Centre had Granted Rs 4,525 crore to the State
Rs 4,525 crore has been granted by the Centre to the state in order to strengthen farmers’ producers’ organisations and primary agricultural cooperatives, among others.

i.The Ministry of Cooperation, Karnataka has set a target to distribute crop loans to the tune of Rs 15,300 crore in 2020.
ii.Till Now, Rs 7,929.30 crore had been disbursed to 12.11 lakh farmers at zero and 3% interest rates.
Few Other Benefits Provided to Farmers
i.Recently the government had released Rs 1,885 crore as incentive to dairy farmers at a rate of Rs 5 per litre.
ii.A new scheme has also been introduced to provide loans at 0% interest rate to dairy farmers and fishermen.
iii.It is to be noted that the state govt distributed free unsold milk procured by Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) to the poor during the lockdown.
