Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) was honoured with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry Corporate Social Responsibility (FICCI CSR) Special Commendation Award for its efforts to counter the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The award was presented by the Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda to company executives in New Delhi, Delhi.
Key highlights:
i.JSP Foundation, the CSR arm of JSP led by Shallu Jindal, started a series of on-the-ground services to support the poor and vulnerable during COVID-19 pandemic.
ii.The company also joined the Government and community by building hospital facilities, providing liquid medical oxygen, feeding the hungry and protecting the livelihood of the vulnerable community during the lockdown.
Efforts taken by JSP:
i.During the first lockdown, JSP had launched a special initiative, ‘Mission Zero Hunger’ in three states including Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, to feed truck drivers, stranded migrant labourers, and the poor.
- This was later extended to other states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra, delivering more than 2 million meals.
ii.During the second COVID-19 wave, JSP had supplied more than 5,000 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) by road and Indian Railway’s Oxygen Express to almost 13 states.
- It also provided two cryogenic tankers to the Odisha government for LMO transportation.
iii.JSP had designated around 700 Oxygen beds in its Fortis OP Jindal Hospital and Research Centre in Raigarh and Tamnar, Chhattisgarh, and a specialised COVID Care Centre supported by ICUs and ventilators at Angul, Odisha.
iv.The JSP Foundation also distributed about lakhs of facemasks and thousands of litres of sanitisers to the vulnerable community and also to the front line COVID-19 workers.
NTPC Wins Special Jury Award for Environmental Sustainability
NTPC limited, formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, India’s largest power generator was conferred with the prestigious FICCI Special Jury Commendation Awards in the Environmental Sustainability category for the project – ‘Revival & Operation of Municipal Solid Waste plant’ at Karsada, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
- The Award was presented by Arjun Munda, Honourable Union Tribal Affairs Minister, GoI and on behalf of NTPC, Dillip Kumar Patel, Director (HR), received the Award at FICCI Federation House, Delhi.
