J-K Lt Governor launches super-75 scholarship scheme for meritorious girlsOn 8th March 2021, International Women’s Day, the Lieutenant(Lt) Governor of Jammu and Kashmir(J&K) launched the Super-75 scholarship scheme to support the education of the meritorious girls from poor families.  The scheme will support the girls to take up streams like engineering, medicine, Industrial Training Institute(ITI) and humanity and contribute to the development of the nation.

Keeping in view of this year’s campaign theme of International Women’s Day Choose to Challenge and to celebrate Azaadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav- India@75, the Lt Governor announced the launch of Super-75 scholarship scheme.

Other Schemes:

i.Lt Governor also launched a new scheme “Tejaswini” under the Mission Youth to provide financial support of Rs.5 Lakhs to girls of age group 18 to 35 to start a business.

ii.10% of the project cost will be provided by the Mission youth and it will also pay the interest every year.

i.The Lt Governor stated that no fees will be charged upto 12th standard from around 589000 girls from various government schools.

ii.He also stated that to reduce the gender gap and girl child dropout rates, around 88 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya and 88 Girls Hostel has been made functional in various distant locations.

iii.The government is also providing 13 scholarship schemes to support the higher education of girls.

The Government of India announced an increase in Scholarship amount for the students of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) under the ‘Pragati’ and ‘Saksham’ Scholarship Schemes. The amount has been raised from Rs. 5, 000 Per Annum to Rs. 50, 000 Per Annum from the Current Academic Year (2020-21).
