Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on April 11, 2022 has launched two projects in the Union Territory of J&K helps Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) and achieving Self Sufficiency in power sector respectively –
- AVSAR portal under ‘Connect to Opportunities Initiative’ by Mission Youth, aimed at providing real-time information on pre-placement activities and job opportunities available for the J&K youths.
- The Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (RHPCL) and Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) has signed a contract for the turnkey execution of 850-Megawatt (MW) Ratle Hydel Power Project on the Chenab River in Kishtwar district of Union Territory of J&K.
AVSAR portal to connect the aspiring youths with industry in J&K
i.As a part of Connect to Opportunities Initiative, Mission Youth and Vision India has signed an agreement for providing job opportunities to the Youths of J&K through the AVSAR Portal.
ii.The mission aims to provide more than 10,000 jobs by 2022, by acting as an interface between industry and the skilled workforce from J&K.
iii.The mission will be onboarding all Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) and other technical institutions in the Union Territory for the producing best enterprising youths with industry ready skill sets.
850-MW Ratle hydel power project executed by RHPCL and MEIL in the Valley of J&K
i.The 850 MW Ratle hydel power project pact was aimed at realising the goal of making Jammu and Kashmir self-sufficient in the power sector.
ii.The agreement was signed between Deepak Saigal, Chief Executive Officer, Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (RHPCL) and Umamaheswara Reddy, Vice President, Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) at the convention centre J&K in the presence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
iii.Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited(RHPCL)is a joint venture of NHPC (formerly National Hydroelectric Power Corporation)Â and J&K State Power Development Corporation Limited (JKSPDC).
Note:-
i.J&K has a total of 20,000 MW of Hydropower capacity of which only 3,500 MW electricity has been harnessed so far.
ii.The other new projects approved earlier in the valley are – 1000 MW Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project in Kishtwar, J&K; Kiru hydroelectric power project on chenab river etc,.
