On October 23, 2020, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) became the first Union Territory in the country to operationalise Public Financial Management System (PFMS) at the district level with the e-inauguration of eight district offices by Additional Controller General of Accounts, Subodh Kumar Mathur.Â
Key Points:
i.The offices will result in improved programme administration and management.Â
ii.It will help in direct payment to beneficiaries and greater transparency and accountability in use of public funds.
iii.PFMS will improve accounts administration in the state.
iv.PFMS State Directorate J&K was established in 2016, now it has emerged as First UT in the country in terms of expanding PFMS to districts.

i.The Government of India announced an increase in Scholarship amount for the students of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) under the ‘Pragati’ and ‘Saksham’ Scholarship Schemes. The amount has been raised from Rs. 5, 000 Per Annum to Rs. 50, 000 Per Annum from the Current Academic Year (2020-21).
