Ministry of External Affairs celebrated the World Hindi Day  on January 10, 2015 at a function organized at the Foreign Service Institute, Ber Sarai, New Delhi. Honorable Special Secretary, Shri Navtej Sarna was the Chief Guest on this function.
An Essay Competition in Hindi was conducted for foreign students studying Hindi and the winners were awarded with cash prizes and books. Students of Kendriya Hindi Sansthan presented the cultural program at the function.
The first World Hindi Conference was celebrated on January 10th, 2006 in Nagpur and since then every 10 January is observed as the World Hindi Day by the Ministry of External Affairs.
NOTE
Hindi Divas (also called Hindi Day ) is being observed on September 14 in India and other Hindi-speaking regions to propagate the Hindi language and its cultural heritage and values.
