ISRO Signs MoU with VSSUT to Set up First of Its Kind Innovation cum Incubation Centre to Promote Space Research

ISRO-signs-MoU-with-premier-technical-institute-in-Odisha-to-promote-space-researchOn 25th August 2020, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, Odisha, a technical institute, to set up the first of its kind innovation cum incubation centre, VSSUT Space Innovation Centre(VSSSIC) in India to promote space research.

The MoU was signed over the virtual platform in the presence of K Sivan, Chairman of ISRO and Atal Chaudhuri, Vice Chancellor of VSSUT.

Objective:

To promote the knowledge about Space research among the students.

Features of MoU:

i.ISRO will offer technical consultancy support and financial assistance of Rs.50 lakhs for the development of infrastructure of VSSUT.

ii.ISRO and VSSUT will collaborate to develop high end simulation tools, miniature test facilities like Static test facility and solid propulsion research lab and establishment of testing facilities for scaled down model.

iii.VSSSIC will explore the latest global trends in space technology and will take up related projects that benefit India.

iv.ISRO will ease the limited utilisation of rocket launching facilities like Thumba, Sriharikota or Balasore (under Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO)).

v.These facilities have all kinds of safety systems that are required for the launch of future sounding rockets of VSSSIC.

Key Points:

i.The Innovation Club of VSSUT developed a sounding rocket which entered the Limca Book of Records.

ii.The centre will promote the more research that is required for the development of the sub system and propulsion system.

i.The Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO), Bengaluru signed an MoU with the Aryabhatta Research institute of Observational Science (ARIES), Nainital for the cooperation in the Field of Space Situational Awareness(SSA) and Astrophysic.
