The Government of India has appointed Pournima Gupte as the Actuary of Insurance Regulatory Authority of India (IRDA). The post of Actuary was lying vacant for three years. This post was lastly held by Mr Kannan who was retired three years back. Pournima Gupte had worked with LIC and has worked as actuary at Reliance Life Insurance and IDBI Federal. This is the first time that a woman has been appointed on the board of members of the regulatory authority.
