On March 5, 2020 The International Conference on Nano Science and Technology 2020 (ICONSAT) was held at Biswa Bangla Conventional Centre, Kolkata. The event was supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) & organized by S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata. The conference was held from March 5 to 7, 2020.Objective: The conference provides a platform for the young researchers & students from within the country and abroad, with the latest development in the emerging areas of Nano Science and Technology.
Key Points:
i.Awards: Professor Sabu Thomas, Vice Chancellor (VC), Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala was conferred with National Research Award in Nano Science & Technology for his contribution in the field of nano science.
ii.Dr. Saurabh Lodha, IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Bombay and Dr. Vivek Polshettowar, TIFR (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research), Mumbai was conferred with Young Research Awards in Nano Science & Technology.
iii.Professor Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, DST, made the inaugural speech about the infrastructure & human resources in the field of nano science and technology.
iv.He also emphasised on 5Ms- mechanical, material, machines, manufacturing and manpower and also motivated young scientists to participate in AWSAR (Augmenting Writing Skills for Articulating Research) through which young scholars can submit their popular science stories with social benefits.
v.The existing research on nano-materials, quantum materials, energy materials and nanotechnology for agriculture were discussed in the conference.
vi.The 3 day conference includes 9 plenary lectures and 36 invited talks by eminent scientists from India as well as from abroad and 350 posters presentation.
