International Chefs Day - October 20 2022International Chefs Day is annually observed across the world on October 20 by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (Worldchefs) to celebrate the Culinary arts and to educate the people about the significance of culinary professionals (Chefs). The day also aims to educate kids around the world about the importance of healthy eating.

The campaign for International Chefs Day 2022 is “Growing A Healthy Future”.

Background:

i. International Chefs Day was created by the late Dr Bill Gallagher, former President of Worldchefs, in 2004, to celebrate the noble profession and highlight the importance to pass on knowledge and culinary skills to the next generation of chefs with a sense of pride and commitment to the future.

ii. International Chefs Day was 1st celebrated on 20th October 2004.

Event 2022: 

i. Nestlé Professional and Worldchefs have collaborated to celebrate International Chefs Day 2022 by hosting a cooking workshop for children under the campaign “Growing A Healthy Future” to strengthen the concept of choosing quality food.

  • In 2014, Nestlé Professional partnered with Worldchefs to teach children around the globe about the importance of healthy eating.

ii. The aim of the event is to encourage the new generations to adopt healthier consumption habits in order to improve the children’s health and quality of life.

iii. It also aims to inspire children who enjoy cooking to become professional chefs by teaching them cooking skills and tips to enhance their skills by cooking plant-based recipes using excellent plant-based products from Harvest Gourmet.

Key Points:

i. The world’s 1st cookbook comprising over 400 recipes from the 1st century A.D by Roman gourmet Marcus Apicius. The profession of Chef has been around since the beginning of time.

ii. In 2021, due to COVID-19, Chefs made videos of their workshops and shared them on Social media which became a big hit. Through the video workshop, 648 chefs have reached over 93,000 children last year.
