International Chefs Day is annually celebrated on October 20 to celebrate the profession of chefs and educate people about healthy food globally. The day also highlights the duty of chefs to pass their knowledge and culinary skills to the next generation of Chefs.
2020 International Chefs Day campaign theme– ‘Healthy Food for the Future!’
Reason Behind the Theme
i.To ensure a healthy planet for future generations, it is very important to start teaching children about the impact that food production and consumption actually has on the environment.
ii.For this reason the 2020 theme is focused on sustainability and the environment.
Note
This day brings an opportunity to teach kids about healthy eating by allowing them to be creative with food.
Background
i.In 2004, Late Chef Dr. Bill Gallagher and the former president of the World Association of Chefs Societies (World Chefs) created this day.
ii.In 2014, Nestlé Professional and Worldchefs teamed up to teach children around the global about the importance of healthy eating by hosting fun-filled workshops worldwide.
