Indra Mani Pandey,Indian Foregin Services (IFS) Officer of 1990 and Additional Secretary in Ministry of External Affairs(MEA)was appointed as India’s Permanent Representative/Ambassador to the United Nations and the other International Organisations in Geneva, succeeding Rajiv Kumar Chander, IFS Officer of 1983 batch.
India’s permanent representative at Geneva:
i.Pandey will take charge as India’s representative at the United Nations in Geneva.
ii.Pandey served as the joint secretary in the Disarmament and International Security Affairs division of the Ministry of External Affairs.
iii.He served in India’s missions in Kabul (Afghanistan), Cairo (Egypt), Damascus (Syria), Muscat (Oman) and Islamabad (Pakistan).
India’s permanent representative at New York:
i.Ambassador T. S. Tirumurti was appointed as India’s Permanent representative at the United Nations(UN) at New York , the head of Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in New York on 29th April 2020.
ii.He served as the Secretary to Ministry of External Affairs and was incharge of Persian Gulf, Arab world, Africa, development partnerships and economic relations.
iii.He served in Indian Embassy in Cairo, Egypt and he was India’s first Representative to the Palestinian Authority in the Gaza Strip.
