Indira Gandhi International Airport to get India’s first body scanner

New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport’s terminal ID is all set to get India’s first body scanner. United states Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) will be giving a millimeter’ wave scanner to IGI Airport which will be installed in coming weeks. It will be then tested  by Bureau of civil aviation security (BCAS) which will look on health and privacy concern. These scanner is used globally including US.

Advantages of Body Scanner:

  • The scanner is learnt to be made specially for India so it can check through layers of clothing like pallu, lungi etc..
  • Body scanner are supposed to cut down the average time for passengers substantially.
  • It will make scanners hassle-free for security men as well as for passengers.

Though it is not mandatory for passengers, USTDA has decided to give the scanner in hope that more passengers will opt for it and it will lead to more orders from other Indian airport.
