India’s NMF & Taiwan’s TAEF inked MoU to Foster Cooperation in Indo-Pacific Region

Indian,Taiwanese-think-tanks-join-hands-to-foster-cooperation-in-Indo-Pacific-regionOn October 12, 2020, India’s National Maritime Foundation (NMF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation (TAEF), a leading think tank from Taiwan to foster cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region as part of Taiwan’s South bound policy.

  • NMF Director General Vice Admiral Pradeep Chauhan (Retd) and TAEF Chairman Dr. Hsin-Huang Michael Hsiao presided over the signing via videoconferencing.
  • The memorandum’s aim is to conduct joint research and expand cooperation in maritime affairs and regional development.

Key Points:

-As a part of this partnership, both organizations will set up a joint task force to deepen bilateral dialogue.

-A delegation from TAEF will visit India after COVID-19 travel restrictions are over.

-TAEF was the organizer of the fourth edition of the Yushan Forum held in Taipei, Taiwan on October 8-10, 2020 under the theme “Forging a Resilient Future Together”.

-In 2016, Taiwan named India as one of its New Southbound Policy target countries in 2016.
