India’s H-Energy signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Petrobangla (Bangladesh Oil, Gas & Mineral Corporation), a government-owned national oil company of Bangladesh for supply of R-LNG (Regasified-Liquefied Natural Gas) to Bangladesh.
- H-Energy will supply LNG to Bangladesh via the 250 km ‘Kanai Chatta (West Bengal) – Shrirampur (Bangladesh) Natural Gas Pipeline’, which is expected to be commissioned in 2023.
- H-Energy was authorized by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), the regulatory body in India to build, own and operate the Kanai Chhata-Shrirampur natural gas pipeline connecting H-Energy’s LNG terminal in West Bengal and further connecting to the Bangladesh border. It became the only company to receive authorisation from PNGRB to lay a pipeline to the Bangladesh border.
Key Points
i.H-Energy’s fully owned subsidiary HE Marketing private is responsible for sourcing LNG and supplying R-LNG to Petrobangla.
ii.Within Bangladesh, Petrobangla will supply the R-LNG to gas-based power producers and other gas consumers.
iii.H-Energy is developing an LNG terminal on the western (Jaigarh, Rajasthan) and eastern coast of India (at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh & Kukrahati, West Bengal).
iv.It will start the commission of its floating LNG receiving terminal at Jaigarh port, Maharashtra in July 2021.
- The Jaigarh terminal project is connected to the national gas grid at Dabhol, Maharashtra through a 56 Km pipeline.
