The Indian Army team emerged champions in the 19th Federation Cup national senior athletic championship, scoring 123.5 points at the end of the four-day event at the Mangala stadium on Monday

19th Federation Cup national senior athletic championship :

  • Venue : Mangala stadium,Mangalore,Karnataka
  • The overall championships :
  • First Place – Indian Army Team – 123.5 points
  • Second Place – Tamil Nadu – 114 Points (Men team contributed only 48 points where as Women team contributed 66 points )

 

The Overall Women’s championships :

  • First Place – Kerala – 86 Points
  • Second Place – Karnataka – 68 Points
  • Third Place – Tamil Nadu  – 66 Points

Best athlete award in the men’s category

  • Inderjeet Singh – Haryana
  • He was awarded for his stupendous toss in the shot put event, which helped him qualify for the Rio Olympics in 2016.
  • He also awarded Rs.25000 cash award
  • Javelin thrower Devender Singh of Army also awarded Rs 25000 Cash award.
  • Best athlete award in the Women’s category
  • Srabani Nanda – Odisha – who equaled her Personal best of 11.59 secs in 100m in the women’s section.

  • 100m hurdles (women): Gayathry, Tamil Nadu (13.67s)
  • 400m race (men): Arokya Rajeev, Army (46.24s)
  • 400m race (women): M R Poovamma
  • 200m race (men): Dharmbir, Haryana (20.87s)
  • 200m race (women): Srabani Nanda, Odisha (23.67s)
  • 4x100m relay (women): Karnataka (47.20s)
  • 4x400m relay (women): West Bengal (3:46.08)
  • 4x400m relay (men): Army (3:11.48)
