On 8th December 2021 at Indian Para-athletes claimed 41 medals, with 12 gold, 15 silver, and 14 bronze, at 4th Asian Youth Para Games (AYPG), Asia’s biggest event that was held in Riffa, Bahrain.
- The event is organized by the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Bahrain.
Participants – Over 700 athletes from around 30 countries participated in the event from 2nd to 6th December 2021.
9 Para Sports played- Para athletics, Para badminton, boccia, goalball, Para powerlifting, Para swimming, Para table tennis, Para taekwondo, and wheelchair basketball.
- Indian Contingent took part in all the 9 sports.
Note – The 5th edition of the Asian Youth Para Games 2025 will be hosted by Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Medals acquired:
i.Indian Athletes yielded the most medals of 22 medals from Athletics, 8 players won gold, 6 silver, and 8 bronze.
ii.The Indian para shuttlers returned claimed 15 medals with Tokyo Paralympian Palak Kohli, Sanjana Kumari, and Hardik Makkar claiming 3 medals each.
iii.India won 3 medals, including 1 silver and 2 bronze in swimming and won silver in powerlifting.
Note – Deepa Malik was the President of Tokyo Paralympic Committee of India for 2020 Paralympics games.

i.The Tokyo Paralympian Kashish Lakra (F51) bagged a Gold medal in the club throw event
ii.Earlier, Ananya Bansal won India’s 1st medal – Silver, in Shot Put in the F20 category at the event.
