On August 18, 2021 India and Vietnam had conducted a Bilateral maritime exercise in the South China Sea as a part of maritime cooperation between the two countries.
Participants- India was represented by INS Ranvijay and INS Kora & Vietnam was represented by Vietnam’s People’s Navy (VPN) frigate VPNS Ly Thai To(HQ-012)
Objective –This maritime exercise aims to build trustworthiness and enhance cooperation in the region of South China Sea.
Highlights
- It also aims to strengthen India- Vietnam defence relation.
- The India- Vietnam maritime exercise would enhance the interoperability between the countries. India is offering to Vietnam many defence equipment and providing assistance in training its army.
About INS Ranvijay and INS Kora-
INS Ranvijay– it’s a Rajput- class destroyer helicopter of the Indian Navy.
It is equipped with Surface to Surface Missile,Anti Air Missiles and guns, Heavyweight Torpedoes, Anti Submarine Rockets and capable of carrying Anti Submarine Heli-copter (Kamov 28).
INS Kora: lead ship of Kora Class of Corvette in Indian Navy
Designed: Project 25A of Indian Navy.
Equipped: 3M-24 Anti ship Missiles.
About South China Sea–
