On December 16, 2020, During the bilateral meeting between Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Ministry of Education (MoE) and Foreign Secretary of United Kingdom (UK) Dominic Raab, in New Delhi stated that India and the UK agreed to set up a joint task force consisting of designated higher education organisations from both the countries to work towards mutual recognition of academic qualifications over the next year.
- The composition of the Task Force is yet to be decided.
Key Point:
This agreement is aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating a globally mobile workforce and internationalization of Indian higher education, as proposed in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Participants of the meeting: Minister of State (MoS) for Education Sanjay Dhotre, Secretary, Higher Education Shri Amit Khare and senior officials of the Ministry were present in the meeting.
