International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup was held in Guadalajara, Mexico from 1st to 12th March, 2018.

India topped medal tally at ISSF Shooting World Cup

India topped the medal tally at ISSF Shooting World Cup by winning four gold, one silver and three bronze.

  • Shahzar Rizvi, Manu Bhaker, Akhil Sheoran and Om Prakash Mitharval won the gold medals for India.
  • Anjum Moudgil bagged a silver while Jitu Rai, Ravi Kumar and Mehuli Ghosh finished with bronze.
  • This is the first time that India has topped medal tally in ISSF competition.

On March 10, 2018, Indian shooter Shahzar Rizvi clinched gold in the ISSF World Cup with a world record score.

  • Shahzar Rizvi won gold in 10m air pistol men’s event.
  • In the finals, Shahzar Rizvi struck a score of 242.3 and defeated Christian Reitz of Germany.
  • Another Indian shooter, Jitu Rai grabbed bronze in the same event.

Young 16 yr old Manu Bhaker clinched gold, Ravi Kumar bagged bronze in ISSF World Cup

16 year old Indian shooter Manu Bhaker won Gold in 10m air pistol women’s event.

  • In the finals, Bhaker beat Mexico’s Alejandra Zavala with a score of 237.5.
  • Earlier, India’s Ravi Kumar won a bronze in the Men’s 10M Air Rifle event.

Pair of Manu Bhaker-Om Prakash Mitharval bags gold at ISSF Shooting World Cup

Pair of Om Prakash Mitharval and Manu Bhaker clinched the 10m air pistol mixed team title at ISSF World Cup.

  • This victory comes a day after Manu Bhaker won the women’s 10m air pistol individual gold.
  • Duo of Indian shooters Deepak Kumar and Mehuli Ghosh have won a bronze in the 10m air rifle mixed team event. 

Anjum wins silver in women’s rifle 3 positions at shooting World Cup

At ISSF World Cup, Indian shooter Anjum Moudgil clinched a silver medal in the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions.

  • This was Anjum’s first World Cup. In the finals she struck a score of 454.2
  • Former junior world champion China’s Ruijiao Pei (455.4) won the gold while another Chinese shooter Ting Sun claimed bronze.

Akhil Sheoran clinches gold in 50m Rifle 3-Position

Indian shooter Akhil Sheoran clinched the gold medal in men’s 50m rifle 3 position at the ISSF World Cup.

  • In the finals, Sheoran struck a score of 455.6 to defeat Austria’s Bernhard Pickl.
  • Sheoran’s gold was India’s fourth of the competition and placed it on top of the medal tally.
