On 15th March, 2021 International Boxing Association (AIBA) announced that 2021’s Edition of Asian Boxing Championship will be held between May 21-31 at New Delhi, India. This will be the 1st boxing tournament in Asia in 2021, acting towards evaluating boxers’ readiness for the Olympic games.
i.The 30th edition of Asian Amateur Boxing Championships that was held in 2019 saw participation from 34 countries.
ii.2020’s Event was canceled on the rise of pandemic, and it is expected to see participants from 32 countries in the 2021’s edition.
2019 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships:
For the 1st time in the tournament’s history both men & women fought in the same championship.
Host – Bangkok, Thailand
India’s Amit Panghal & Pooja Rani had won Gold in the Tournament.
