India leads submissions for Zayed Future Prize

India is leading the submissions for UAE’s annual Zayed Future Energy Prize, of which largest share is formed by emerging markets.

The prize received 1,437 submissions and nominations this year. This is the highest number in the eight year history of this prize.

Submissions from various parts of the world are

  • India – 67
  • China – 41.
  • Africa – 102
  • Latin America – 241
  • Mexico – 83
  • Columbia – 54

Worldwide 97 countries submitted their nominations, out of which 888 submissions were in Large Corporation, Small and Medium Enterprise, Non-Profit Organisation and Global High Schools categories and 549 nominations for the Lifetime Achievement award were received.

The winners of this award will be announced at the annual awards ceremony in Abu Dhabi on January 18 next year.

Zayed Future Prize

The Zayed Future Energy Prize represents the vision of the Late Founding Father and President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan.

This award celebrates achievements that reflect impact, innovation, long-term vision and leadership in renewable energy and sustainability.

This award is given to those innovators who provide solutions and technologies to address the growing demand for energy.

The Prize is awarded to individuals, high schools, companies, organisations or Non-Profit Organizations (NPO/NGO) that have made significant contributions in the global response to the future of energy.

The categories of prize are:

  • Large Corporation
  • SME
  • NGO
  • Lifetime Achievement Award
  • A Global High School
