India most-represented nation on Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024India has become the most represented nation in the Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings 2024 with 96 entries. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu(TN), ranked 81st, tops among the Indian Universities featured on the list. This is the third consecutive time.

  • India is followed by Türkiye with 91 universities and Pakistan with 89 universities respectively.
  • The 2024 ranking is topped by the Western Sydney University in Australia, followed by The University of Manchester, the United Kingdom(UK) and the University of Tasmania, Australia at 2nd place.
  • This rankings were announced during THE’s Global Sustainable Development Congress held in Bangkok from June 10 to 13, 2024.

About THE University Impact Rankings 2024:

i.This is the 6th edition of THE University Impact ranking which highlights the impact of the university sector on the world’s progress towards the United Nations(UN)’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

ii.2,152 universities from 125 countries/regions were evaluated to produce the overall Impact Ranking for 2024.

Methodology: 

i.The ranking integrates scores across multiple SDGs to reflect overall performance and impact.

ii.Four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching were considered to make the list.

ii.The list features the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Gandhinagar(Gujarat) ranked 301-400; IIT Guwahati(Assam) ranked 401-500; and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai (Maharashtra) ranked 601-800.
