The Mains phase of one of the most anticipated banking exams of the country is now over. IBPS PO exam was scheduled from 9:30 am – 11:50 am. Here is the detailed analysis of this exam.

Reasoning Ability

Number of Question – 50
Overall Level – Moderate to Difficult

  • Syllogism – 5 Questions
    The questions asked were tricky. Most questions had the case of possibility. You had to identify the conclusion which did not follow logically.
  • Seating Arrangement/ Puzzles – 4 sets (20 questions)
    (a) Based on meeting of 8 different people in 4 different months on 2 days – 13th and 22nd. Different cases were given for this.
    (b) Based on 9 people who belonged to 3 different departments – HR, IT and Marketing with positions of Manager and Senior Manager in each. The questions was tricky.
    (c) One Puzzle was row based.
    (d) Floor based puzzle – 10 people living on 4 different floors with 3 flats on each floor. 2 were unoccupied.
  • Logical Reasoning- 10 Questions (Based on Statement assumption, selection procedure based)
  • Coding Decoding –  5 Questions (Sentence coding)
  • Miscellaneous – 10 Questions (Distance and distance – 5 Questions)

Quantitative Aptitude

Number of Questions – 50
Overall Level – Moderate to Difficult

  • Data Interpretation – 4 sets (20 Questions)
    (a) Paragraph DI -Based on Production and Consumption of 3 different cereals in different Years
    (b) Missing DI – Based on Investment and Profit.
    (c) Pie Chart – Based on 2 product brands A, B sold on different shops.
    (d) Line Graph – Based on number of visitors in 2 different theatres in different months
  • Number Series – 5 Questions (The wrong number out of the given series had to be identified)

  • Reading Comprehension – 2 sets (15 Questions)
    (a) RC was based on Economy. Informal vs. Formal Economy.
  • Phrase Starter based questions – 5 Questions
  • Para Completion – 5 Questions (A short paragraph was given with 5 statements in the options. The most appropriate sentence had to be selected)
  • Synonym / Antonym Questions – 5 Questions
  • Sentence Improvement – 5 Questions (2 parts of the sentence were highlighted here )
  • Identifying the correct sentence among the given options – 5 Questions

General Awareness

Number of Questions – 40
Overall Level – Easy to Moderate

The section was doable. Questions asked included –

Which Bank not regulated by RBI
Typhoon HAIMA recently came in which country.
Nobel Price in Economy awarded for work on which topic

Computer Knowledge

Number of Questions – 20
Overall Level – Easy to Moderate

This section was easy to attempt. Questions asked included –
1 nibble = 4 bits
Name of IBM supercomputer – WATSON
Rename Functions in MS Word etc.
