IBM Collaborates with NSDC to Offer Free Digital Education Platform for Skill Development

IBM-collaborates-with-NSDC-to-offer-free-digital-skills-trainingOn 21st August 2020, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation) announced its collaboration with National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC) to offer a free digital education platform on emerging technologies and professional skill development and to equip the next generation with digital skills.

Features of collaboration:

i.IBM will manage an online course from Open P-Tech platform and will offer it to the users through eSkill India Portal of NSCD.

ii.Online courses in emerging technologies like cybersecurity, blockchain, artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud and Internet of Things will be provided.

iii.For the Learners between the age of 18 to 22 years, professional skills like design thinking will be provided for free.

iv.The platform is available in English which will be expanded to multiple Indian languages starting with Hindi and followed Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Gujarati, Sindhi, Urdu, Bengali.

v.Under this partnership IBM will catalogue more than 30 courses with 60 hours of learning as knowledge partners.

Digital learning platform:

i.This platform will empower young learners with technical and market-related skills and improve the prospects of employment and livelihood for the youth.

ii.The online training over the digital platform will overcome the geographical and socio-economic barriers.

iii.This will increase the participation of women in the workforce and increase their scope of employability.

i.The Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE), announced integration of Artificial Intelligence(AI) in the high school (11th & 12th grade) curriculum for the 2020-2021 academic year. The curriculum was developed in collaboration with IBM (International Business Machines Corporation).

ii.Directorate General of Training (DGT), under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Technology giant IBM (International Business Machines Corporation) India Private Limited,have jointly launched free digital learning platforms ‘SkillsBuild Reignite’ and ‘SkillsBuild Innovation Camp’
