Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurates, lays foundation stone of 234 development projects in Azamgarh, KaushambiOn 7th April 2023, Amit Shah, Union Minister of Home Affairs, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 234 development projects worth Rs 5,196 crore in the Azamgarh and Kaushambi districts of Uttar Pradesh (UP).

  • Of the total projects, 117 development works worth Rs 4,583 crore rupees are in Azamgarh, UP, and 117 development projects worth Rs 613 crore rupees are in Kaushambi, UP.

Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Brijesh Pathak & Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Ministers.

Development projects in Azamgarh, UP: 

i. Union Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of the Hariharpur Sangeet Mahavidyalaya at Namdarpur in Azamgarh, UP.

ii. The foundation stone of 117 development projects worth Rs.4583 includes

  • 1358 schemes at the cost of Rs 4257 crore under ‘Nal se Jal’
  • 55 schemes related to widening and strengthening of roads at the cost of Rs 175 crore
  • 61 schemes at the cost of Rs 151 crore related to 16 different departments of UP.

iii. Sansad Khel Mahotsav is being organised by Members of Parliament (MPs) in their respective constituencies under the leadership of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi. These Khel Mahotsavs have provided platforms for young players to showcase their talent.

Development projects in Kaushambi, UP:

i. Apart from unveiling the projects, Union Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Kaushambi Mahotsav-2023 and also unveiled and laid the foundation stone of various development projects at Kaushambi, UP, and also felicitated the winners of “Sansad Khel Spardha”.

ii. The foundation stone of 117 development projects worth Rs 613 includes the inauguration of:

  • 70 schemes of the Public Works Department worth Rs 405 crore
  • 24 projects worth Rs 51 crore from 12 departments including Youth Welfare, Sports, Urban Development and Vocational Education.
  • 19 schemes of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Phase-III worth Rs 151 crore
  • 4 schemes of the Health and Urban Development Department worth Rs 6 crore

iii. About 16000 young people applied online to participate in the “Sansad Khelkood Spardha,” which was founded by MPs; out of which 3324 players have been awarded.

Developments in UP:

i. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna, more than 46 lakh individuals got houses in UP. More than 10 lakh street vendors have benefited from the Swanidhi scheme.

ii. Meanwhile, the work of giving Rs 52,000 crore to 2.5 crore farmers (each gets Rs 6,000) under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana was also completed.

iii. A network of roads and canals has been laid, gas cylinders have reached 1.76 crore houses, and toilets and electricity have reached every house in UP.

Notes:

Overall, PM Narendra Modi has provided tap water to 60% of the households in India. The work of providing tap water to 11.66 crore houses has been completed.
