On January 28 2025, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi visited the states of Odisha and Uttarakhand to inaugurate ‘Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025’ and 38th National Games.
Highlights of the visit:
Utkarsh Odisha’ – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025:
i.PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the two-day ‘Utkarsh Odisha – The Make in Odisha conclave’ at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar(Odisha) which was conducted from January 28 to 29, 2025.
- This marked the first time that the conclave was attended by the PM.
- The aim of the event was to focus on bringing Odisha amongst the top 5 economic states in the country by 2036.
ii.The event was organized by the Government of Odisha with an aim to establish the state as India’s primary destination for investments and industrial hub under the Purvodaya vision.
iii.The platform brought together industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to discuss the opportunities in Odisha which makes it a preferred investment destination.
iv.The event involved Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and leader roundtables, sector-specific seminars, business-to-business meetings, and policy discussions to attract global investors.
v.Odisha received investments worth Rs.16.73 lakh crore comprising 593 industrial projects spanning over 20 sectors in the conclave.
- It also signed 145 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth Rs.12.89 lakh crore across 16 diverse sectors.
vi.He also inaugurated the Make in Odisha Exhibition that highlights achievements of the state in developing a vibrant industrial ecosystem.
38th National Games inaugurated in Dehradun
i.PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the 38th National Games at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, Uttarakhand while celebrating 25 years of the formation of the state.
- The National Games 2025 will be held in 11 cities across 8 districts of Uttarakhand from 28th January to 14th February 2025.
- The theme for the National Games 2025 is ‘Green Games’ with an aim to focus on sustainability.
ii.The tournament will witness the participation of more than 10,000 athletes from 36 states and one union territory.
iii.Competitions will be held for a total of 35 sports disciplines over the period of 17 days.
- Out of the total sport events, medals will be awarded for 33 sports, while two will be exhibition sports.
iv.Yoga and Mallakhamb have been included in the National Games for the first time.
v.A special park, called the Sports Forest, is developed near the venue, for planting more than 10,000 saplings by athletes and guests.
- Moreover, the medals and certificates awarded are made from environmentally friendly and biodegradable materials.
Note: The 37th National Games was held in 2023 at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, Goa.
