The Haryana Police with 100 per cent marks, secured the 1st position in India under Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS). Gujarat Police secured the 2nd position, while Himachal Pradesh was placed third.
- CCTNS was created for a comprehensive and integrated system for effective policing through e-Governance.
- The main objective behind the creation of CCTNS is to create a nationwide networking infrastructure for the evolution of IT-enabled modern tracking systems around ‘Investigation of crime and detection of criminals’.
- It has integrated more than 14,000 police stations across India.
Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS)
i.The system was approved by the Cabinet in 2009. An allocation of INR 2000 crores was made for the CCTNS Project.
ii.It is a Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) of Government of India and is implemented by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
iii.Under the scheme, State Police departments have to upgrade the systems under certain parameters.
