On July 15, 2020, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Harsimrat Kaur Badal addressed the opening session of two day long Digital Indo- Italian Business Mission on Food Processing held virtually. This webinar consisted of digital conferences; trade fair, and B2B (business to business) meetings where 23 Italian companies virtually exhibited their products and services for end users and other industry players in India.
- The focus areas of the mission were Fruits & Vegetables, Cereals, Milk & Dairy processing, Packaging & Bottling.
- During the meet India and Italy were stated as natural partners with regards to the Food Processing Industry.
Key Points:
-Preference will be given to those Italian Food and Equipment related companies that can produce many different product types, allowing companies to increase their output without major changes to their facilities.
-There are new opportunities in the food processing sector’s segments such as ready to eat, frozen food, superfood, nutraceuticals etc.
-India, also known as the world’s fruit & vegetable basket, offers ample opportunities for sourcing raw material for the countries who are looking to re-align their supply chains.
-Harsimrat Kaur Badal highlighted the opportunities offered by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) in the form of ready infrastructure such as Mega food parks, agri export zones and industrial parks/estates/clusters/nodes.
