PM Launches Multiple Development Projects During 'Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan'

On June 10, 2022, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 3,050 crores during the ‘Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan’ at Khudvel, a tribal region in Navsari district of Gujarat.

  • This comprises the inauguration of seven projects, the laying of foundation stones for 12 projects, and the Bhumi Pujan of 14 projects.

The projects will aid in improving the region’s water supply, as well as enhance connectivity and improve ease of living for Gujarat’s residents.

  • Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Rajnikant Patel, as well as Union and State Ministers and people’s representatives, attended the event.

Multiple Development Projects

Bhumi Pujan

i. The PM performed the Bhumi Pujan for 13 water supply projects worth Rs. 961 crores for residents of Tapi, Navsari, and Surat districts of Gujarat.

ii.He also performed the Bhumi Pujan of a Medical College in Navsari district, which will assist deliver affordable and quality medical treatment to the people of the region at a cost of around Rs. 542 crores.

Inaugurations

The following projects have been inaugurated by the PM:

i. The Madhuban dam based Astol regional water supply project,a water supply engineering marvel, built at the cost of about 586 crores

  • ‘Nal Se Jal’ projects worth Rs. 163 crores.
  • The residents of Surat, Navsari, Valsad, and Tapi districts would benefit from these projects, which will supply clean and sufficient drinking water.

ii.The VirpurVyara substation, built at a cost of over Rs. 85 crores, to provide electricity to residents of the Tapi district.

iii. To facilitate wastewater treatment, a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 14 Minimal Liquid Discharge (MLD), worth Rs. 20 crores, for Vapi city in the Valsad district.

iv Government quarters built in Navsari at a cost of over Rs 21 crores.

v.Roads from Piplaidevi-Juner-Chichvihir-Pipaldahad were laid, as were school buildings in Dang, at a cost of about Rs 12 crore each.

Foundation Stones Laid

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the following projects:

i. 8 water supply projects of Rs. 549 crores, to serve people of Surat, Navsari, Valsad, and Tapi districts with safe drinking water.

ii.A wide road connecting Khergam and Pipalkhed will be built in the Navsari district at a cost of Rs. 33 crores.

iii. At a cost of about Rs. 27 crores, another four-lane road will be built connecting Navsari and Bardoli via Supa.

iv.For the construction of the Zila Panchayat Bhavan & the provision and installation of a roller crash barrier in Dang, at a cost of about Rs. 28 crores & Rs. 10 crores, respectively.

v.PM Narendra Modi has opened the AM Naik Healthcare Complex and Nirali Multi Specialty Hospital in Navsari. He virtually inaugurated the Kharel education complex.

PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates IN-Space in Ahmedabad, Gujarat

PM Narendra Modi has inaugurated the headquarters of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) at Bopal in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He was accompanied by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the ceremony.

  • The Union Cabinet approved the establishment of IN-SPACe in June 2020.

The event also witnessed the exchange of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between IN-SPACe and private sector companies working in space-based applications and services.

  • In the presence of Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, and ISRO Chairman S Somanath, a total of 10 MoUs were signed.

Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe)

i. It is an autonomous, single-window nodal entity in theDepartment of Space,Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

ii.Its objective is to strengthen, promote, and regulate both government and private space activity.It also enables private entities more likely to use ISRO facilities.

iii. IN-SPACe will collaborate closely with ISRO and NSIL (NewSpace India Ltd.) to transfer technologies to the private sector via NSIL.

Note:

  • Currently, the global space industry is valued at USD 400 billion. It has the potential to grow to a USD 1 trillion business by 2040.
  • With barely 2% of the market, India now has the lowest participation rate.

MapmyIndia Collaborates with ISRO To Boost 3D Mapping

MapmyIndia, subsidiary of CE Info Systems Ltd, has announced a partnership with India’s space agency, ISRO, to enhance the quality of its 3D maps.

  • MapmyIndia is working on new maps as part of their metaverse venture.

It develops mapping software for the automotive and mobility industries, consumer and business markets. It caters to the Indian market through the MapmyIndia brand, and the international market under the Maapls brand.

  • A common commuter can see the route and navigation in real time by using MapmyIndia’s Mappls portal or Mappls app.

The RealView employs ISRO satellite imagery, drones, and road-based vehicles that MapmyIndia is flying and driving to create fully three-dimensional (3D) high definition and 360-degree data that will provide citizens with a number of applications and benefits.

  • Users will be able to view vegetation maps, heat maps, air quality maps, and other information on specific locations or routes that they are interested in.
