On December 21, 2020, Government of Gujarat & Cerestra Venturesentered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of Gujarat-Special Education Region (G-SER) at the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR).
i.The G-SER will be spread over 1, 000 acres.
ii.G-SER will include residential and sports complexes for students.
iii.The establishment of G-SER will help in overall development of the region, and in the establishment of Gujarat as a knowledge-driven economy.
Key Points:
i.The G-SER can also be expanded upto 5, 000 acres to develop university district, school district & innovation district.
ii.The project is expected to provide direct and indirect employment opportunities to about Two-and-a-half lakh people.
Dholera SIR:
i.It is one of the several greenfield industrial cities being developed along the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor in Gujarat. It is also the First Greenfield Industrial city to be built to support Industry 4.0
ii.It was established by the Government of Gujarat after the passage of the act ‘Special Investment Region Act 2019’.
iii.A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) called Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL) is responsible for implementation of the project.
iv.Slated to be bigger than Singapore, it covers an estimated 920 Square Kilometres and is strategically located between Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Bhavnagar.
Special Investment Region (SIR):
It is a status given by the Government of Gujarat to develop a proposed region as a global hub of economic activity through creation of world class infrastructure, premium civic amenities, centers of excellence and proactive policy framework.

i.November 6, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a two-day visit to Gujarat from October 30-31, 2020. He inaugurated 17 projects around the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat and laid the foundation stone for 4 new projects.
