August 23, 2021 the Government of India had launched a new geo-spatial planning portal ‘’Yuktdhara’’ under Bhuvan. It would enable MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) assets planning by using remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) data. The portal Yuktdhara was launched by Giriraj Singh, Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
Objective– Yuktdhara platform will serve as a repository of assets and facilitate the Gram Panchayat level planning of MGNREGA activities across India.
Highlights
- The name ‘’Yukta’’ derived from the hindi word Yojanam means planning and ‘’Dhara’’ means
- It served as a repository of geotags which were then created by several national rural development programmes such as Integrated Watershed Management Programme,Per drop More Crop Programmes, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, MGNREGA etc with field photographs.
- The portal will combine various themes based layers, multi-temporal high resolution earth observation data along with analysis tools.
- Jitendra Singh , a Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science and Technology; Ministry of Earth Sciences;Ministry of State in Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space had participated in the launching event.
Joint Mission– It is an initiative of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) along with the Ministry of Rural Development . By providing the support in rural areas for decentralized decision making using these G2G services.
Yuktdhara- Geospatial Planning portal for Geo-MGNREGA
i.At present integration under Yuktdhara, as a part of Bhuvan, which integrates multi-temporal IRS satellites data, location of works, watershed management etc.
ii.It is meant for facilitating Grampanchayat level planning of the activities of MGNREGA across the country.
iii.The prepared plans will get the evaluation of desired authorities under state departments for excellent verification and resource allocation.

Geospatial information is geography and mapping. It is basically place-based and locational based information. Geospatial planning is the use of a Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) that accurately store, collect, display and retrieve vast amounts of information in a spatial context.
