On 2nd August 2020, The Government of Rajasthan approved the 5% reservations to the More Backward Classes(MBC) in the state judicial service.The Rajasthan government amended the Rajasthan Judicial Service Rules 2010 through the cabinet of Rajasthan on the initiative of Ashok Gehlot, chief Minister of Rajasthan to provide 5% reservation in the state judicial service for the More Backward Classes(MBC) instead of 1%.
Key Points:
i.The most backward classes include Gurjars, Raika-Rabari, Gadiya-Lohars, Banjara and Gadariya.
ii.The amendment was made following the demands of the candidate of more backward classes to change the reservation percentage in the state judicial service to 5% instead of 1%.Â
Background:
The government passed the Rajasthan Backward Classes Amendment Act in 2019 to provide 5% reservation to the MBC community.
