Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister(CM) of Goa has launched a solar-based Electrification Programme to provide clean affordable and reliable energy for the rural households of Goa.
The solar photovoltaic (PV)-based lighting system is a green initiative of the Convergence Energy Services Limited(CESL) and Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA).
- The program aims to provide electricity through renewable energy in areas where grid connectivity is not attainable.
CESL & GEDA Partners to install Solar Home Lighting in Rural household:
i.The Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), wholly-owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) signed an agreement with the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) to install solar home lighting system in remote rural households of Goa.
ii.Sanjeev Joglekar, Member-Secretary of GEDA, and Tarun Tayal, General Manager of CESL signed the agreement.
- This is the first off-Grid electricity project of CESL.
- The installation and maintenance of the photovoltaic (PV) systems for 5 years will be done under the Remote Village Electrification (RVE) programme of the government of Goa.
Note:
This initiative will enhance the Indian off-grid solar market, which recorded a 48% year over year dip in sales in the 2nd half of 2020.
