Global Wind Day is annually observed across the globe on 15th June to provide a platform to discover wind energy, its power and the possibilities in shaping the energy system.

The day is annually organised by WindEurope (European Wind Energy Association – EWEA) and Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).

Background:

i.The first ever Wind Day, a pan-European campaign to promote wind energy, was organised by European Wind Energy Association(EWEA).

Objectives of Global Wind Day:

  • Promote the power of wind as an effective energy source
  • Highlight wind energy as a key solution to energy and climate crisis
