Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying announced the integration of e-GOPALA app (Generation of wealth through Productive Livestock) with UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) platform during the virtual program organised as a part of the World Milk Day (June 1 2021).
- The integration of the e-GOPALA app with the UMANG platform will enable the 3.1 Crore users of the UMANG platform to get access to the e-GOPALA app.
National Award:
i.The Union Minister has also launched the Gopal Ratna Awards, the National Awards for the Cattle and Dairy Sector:
ii.The awards were presented under 3 categories
- Best Dairy farmer
- Best Artificial Insemination Technician (AIT)
- Best Dairy Cooperative/ Milk producer Company/ FPO
iii.The winners of the awards will be announced on 31st October 2021.
Milk Production of India:
i.India is a global leader of milk-producing countries, which has produced 198.4 million tonnes of milk during 2019-20.
ii.The milk production in India has increased at an average annual growth rate of 6.3% per year in the last 6 years and the world milk production is growing at a rate of 1.5% per year.
iii.The per capita availability of milk has increased from 307 grams per person in 2013-2014 to 406 grams per person in 2019-2020.
What is UMANG App?
Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG), is a mobile app, a Digital India initiative of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology by the Government of India for access to central and state government services.
The app is aimed at all citizens of India and offers hundreds of services including payment, registration, information search and application forms.
What is E- Gopala App?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched E Gopala App under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) for farmers on 10th September 2020. The app will give farmers the freedom from middlemen and provide all information related to productivity, health and diet for the cattle.
