Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Jal Shakti launched the Swachh Bharat Mission(SBM) Academy, an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) based free mobile online training course with modules on the Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus programme at an event in New Delhi. It is launched as part of ‘GandagiMukt Bharat’, the ongoing week-long behaviour change campaign.
- He launched by dialling the designated IVR toll-free number (18001800404) and listening to the welcome message of the SBM academy
- SBM Academy’s functionalities and key roles are anticipated under Phase 2 of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen)-SBM(G)
About Swachh Bharat Mission Academy
Significance
It will help to sustain behaviour change and enhance capacity building efforts to train Swachhagrahis and PRI members, community-based organizations, voluntary organizations, self-help groups and others associated with the second phase of SBM (G).
Course
i.It contains a 60 minutes module spanning various topics under ODF-S and Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM).
ii.The course has 4 chapters. The user must answer at least 50% of the questions correctly to be considered useful. Currently the content is available in Hindi.

i.It will provide access to the training course anytime and anywhere with high quality and standardized content over basic mobile phones.
ii.It enhances the knowledge and interpersonal communication skills so as to improve the quality of interaction with the beneficiaries.
Note– The Phase II of the SBM (G) was launched in 2020, which focuses on ODF sustainability and SLWM.
