On 19th October 2020, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India(FSSAI) announced that cloud based, upgraded new food safety compliance online platform “Food Safety Compliance System(FoSCoS)” willĀ become operational across India from 1st November 2020. The FoSCoS will replace the Food Licensing and Registration System(FLRS).
Features of Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS):
i.FoSCoS is a cloud based platform with enhanced user interface.
ii.The user traffic capability of this platform is high.
iii.FoSCoS is developed to provide a one point stop for all the processes of the Food Business Operators(FBO) with the department for any regulatory compliance transaction.
Note:
On 1st June 2020 the system was launched in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Gujarat, Goa, Odisha, Manipur, Delhi, Chandigarh and Ladakh.
Key Points:
i.The Food Business Operators(FBO) with licence or registration of premises at Indian Railways and other Authorities will continue to function at FLRS until further announcement.
ii.The FBOs across India will continue to receive the Consumer Grievance and will respond to these in a time bound manner at FLRS.
iii.The FBOs and Authorities will visit the FLRS for the consumer grievance module till the upgraded version is developed in FoSCoS.
Food Licensing and Registration System(FLRS):
i.The Food Licensing and Registration System(FLRS) of FSSAI was an active licensing system since 2011.
ii.FLRS is operational in all the states across India.
iii.Till date the FLRS has issued around 70 Lakh licences or registrations and over 40 Lakh licenses or registration are actively transacting on it.
