On June 18, 2025, London (England) based Times Higher Education (THE) released the University Impact Rankings 2025. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu (TN), ranked 41st and Jalandhar (Punjab) based Lovely Professional University (48) are among the top 50 universities.
- Mysuru (Karnataka) based JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER) (56) and Bajhol, Himachal Pradesh (HP) based Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences (96) are among the top 100 of THE University Impact Rankings 2025.
- The 2025 ranking is topped by the Western Sydney University in Australia with a score of 98.7 for the fourth consecutive year. University of Manchester (98.4) in the United Kingdom (UK) is ranked at the second place.
About THE University Impact Rankings 2025:
i.The 2025 ranking is the 7th edition of THE University Impact Rankings, which is the only global performance table that assesses the contributions of the universities around the world to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
ii.2,526 universities from 136 countries/regions were evaluated to produce the overall Impact ranking for 2025, which is the highest among all the editions.
- Eight countries/ territories, Botswana, Burkina Faso, El Salvador, Estonia, Maldives, Namibia, Papua New Guinea and Senegal made their debut in 2025.
iii.135 universities in India were evaluated in the 2025 rankings.

ii.Asian universities dominate the tier, holding 22 out of the top 50 positions in the rankings, and 10 out of the 17 individual SDG rankings are led by an Asian university.
iii.Pulau Pinang (Malaysia) based Universiti Sains Malaysia leads in the three SDG categories, including No Poverty and Partnerships for the Goals.
iv.Amrita Vishwa Vidyadweepam performed strongly in Quality Education (SDG 4), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), and scored 100/100 in lifelong learning, student access, and water sustainability.
- LPU ranked 5th globally for clean energy, 6th for sustainable cities, and 8th for zero hunger.
