As per Kantar Brandz, 2022 ‘Most Valuable Global Brands report’, 4 Indian companies namely, Tata Consultancy Service (TCS), HDFC Bank, Infosys and Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) were featured among the top 100 global biggest brands. Apple retains its 1st position to become the first trillion-dollar brand with a brand value of USD 947.1 billion followed by Google, Amazon and Microsoft.
- The combined value of the world’s Top 100 most valuable brands has increased by 23 percent to USD 8.7 trillion compared to the 2021 report.
- French luxury brand,Cartier became the fastest-rising brand across all categories, growing its value by 88% to $10bn.
- 11 new entrants joined the 2022 Global Top 100 ranking, led by Aramco (No.16), India’s Infosys (No.64), Mercado Libre (No.71) and Kuaishou (No.82).
- The brands which doubling their brand value over the past year include: YouTube (No.24), Google (No.2), Tesla (No.29) and Hermès (No.27).
Highlights:
i.Apple retains its 1st position to become the first trillion-dollar brand with a brand value of USD 947.1 billion followed by Google, Amazon and Microsoft.
- Facebook, which recently changed its name to Meta, stood at the eight position as its brand value was nearly a fifth of Apple’s.
ii.Chinese brands placed in the global top 10 with Tencent at No.5 and Alibaba at No.9 and United states (US) WeChat at No.5 and TikTok at No.9.
iii.Louis Vuitton is the 1st luxury brand that ranked No.10 with the brand value USD 124.3 billion and 64% and is the 1st European brand to reach the global Top 10 since 2010.
iv.The ‘Most Valuable Global Brands’ by Kantar Brandz 2022 also included IBM, Coca-Cola, Adobe, Oracle, StarBucks, Instagram, TikTok, SnapChat, Adidas and Ikea in the top 100 list.
v.TCS was the second biggest brand in the Asia Pacific Region, second only to Samsung that has a brand value of $54 billion. HDFC Bank and Infosys stood at the third and fourth position on the list

About Indian Companies:
i.TCS jumped 12 positions to 46th position from 58th position in 2021 for which brand value increased to 61 percent.
ii.HDFC Bank’s rank raised 5 positions to 61 along with an increased brand value of 35 percent.
iii.Infosys for the 1st time entered the list at 64th position at a brand value of USD 33,551 billion (33 percent).
iv.LIC slipped 19 positions to 92nd rank with a decrease of 4 percent of brand value compared to 2021.
Note – Among the top twenty business transformation companies TCS and Infosys ranked 15 and 18 respectively. Microsoft ranked number number 1 followed by Amazon Web Services and Nvidia.
