The first India-Nepal Friendship Motor Rally was concluded at lawns of India Gate. The rally was flagged off at Puri, Odisha on February 27. A total of twenty four teams and about 90 riders were participated from both the countries. They covered a distance of 3060 Km during the ten-day rally. The objective of the rally is to strengthen bilateral relations between India and Nepal and also to spread the message of road safety. The rally covered religious places related to Hinduism and Buddhism in the two countries.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj congratulated the organizers for spreading the message of road safety via the motor rally. Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Shipping, Shri Pon Radhakrishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Shri Vijay Chhibber, Charge d’ affaires of Nepal in India, Shri Krishna Prasad Dhakal were present on the occasion.
