1. Probity – ईमानदारी

Meaning – the quality of having strong moral principles; honesty and decency.

Usage – the chancellor exuded competence and fiscal probity

Synonyms – integrity, honesty, uprightness, decency, morality, rectitude, goodness, virtue, right-mindedness, trustworthiness, truthfulness, honour, honourableness, justice, fairness, equity; principles, ethics.

2. Plethora – अचंभा

Meaning – a large or excessive amount of something.

Usage – “a plethora of committees and subcommittees”.

3. Aperture – छेद

Meaning – an opening, hole, or gap.

Usage – “the bell ropes passed through apertures in the ceiling”

Synonyms – opening, hole, gap, space, slit, slot, vent, passage, crevice, chink, crack, fissure, perforation, breach, eye, interstice; technicalorifice, foramen.

4. Mongrel – दोगला

Meaning – a dog of no definable type or breed.

Usage – “she’s a particularly intelligent mongrel with a lot of collie in her”

Synonyms – cross-bred, mixed-breed, half-breed, hybrid.

5. Puny – नन्हा

Meaning – small and weak.

Usage – “white-faced, puny children”

Synonyms – undersized, underdeveloped, undernourished, underfed, stunted, slight, small, little, diminutive, dwarfish, pygmy; weak, feeble, weakly, sickly, delicate, frail, fragile; informalweedy, pint-sized.

6. Rabid – विक्षिप्त

Meaning – having or proceeding from an extreme or fanatical support of or belief in something.

7. Parlance – बोल-चाल

Meaning – a particular way of speaking or using words, especially a way common to those with a particular job or interest.

Usage – “dated terms that were once in common parlance”

8. Paean – विजय का गीत

Meaning – a creative work expressing enthusiastic praise.

Usage – “he’s created a filmic paean to his hero”

Synonyms – song of praise, hymn, psalm, anthem, shout of praise, alleluia; praise, plaudit, exaltation, glorification, eulogy, tribute, testimonial, extolment, encomium, panegyric, accolade, acclamation, commendation, compliment, bouquet.

9. Palliate – कम करना

Meaning – make (a disease or its symptoms) less severe without removing the cause.

Usage – “treatment works by palliating symptoms”

Synonyms – alleviate, ease, relieve, soothe, take the edge off, assuage, allay, dull, soften, lessen, moderate, temper, mitigate, diminish, decrease, blunt, deaden, abate.

10. Pelf – कूड़ा-कर्कट

Meaning – money, especially when gained in a dishonest or dishonourable way.

Usage – “damnation dog thee and thy wretched pelf!”
