1 – Umbrage – साया

Meaning – offence or annoyance.

Usage – “she took umbrage at his remarks”

Synonyms – take offence, be offended, take exception, bridle, take something personally, be aggrieved, be affronted, take something amiss, be upset, be annoyed, be angry, be indignant, get one’s hackles up, be put out, be insulted, be hurt, be wounded, be piqued, be resentful.

2. – Tenet – सिद्धांत

Meaning – a principle or belief, especially one of the main principles of a religion or philosophy.

Usage – “the tenets of classical liberalism”

Synonyms – principle, belief, doctrine, precept, creed, credo, article of faith, dogma, canon, rule; theory, component of a theory, thesis, conviction, persuasion, idea, view, opinion, position, hypothesis, postulation, presumption; ideology.

3. – Terse – संक्षिप्त

Meaning – sparing in the use of words; abrupt.

Usage – “a terse statement”

Synonyms – curt, brusque, abrupt, clipped, blunt, gruff, short, brief, concise, succinct, to the point, compact, crisp, pithy, incisive, short and sweet, economical, laconic, epigrammatic, summary, condensed.

4. – Tranquil – शांत

Meaning – free from disturbance; calm.

Usage – “her tranquil gaze”

Synonyms – peaceful, restful, reposeful, calm, quiet, still, serene, placid, relaxing, soothing, undisturbed, idyllic, halcyon, mild, pleasan.

5. – Taciturn – अल्पभाषी

Meaning – (of a person) reserved or uncommunicative in speech; saying little.

Usage – “after such gatherings she would be taciturn and morose”

synonyms: untalkative, uncommunicative, reticent, unforthcoming, quiet, unresponsive, secretive, silent, tight-lipped, close-mouthed, mute, dumb, inarticulate; reserved, withdrawn, introverted, retiring, antisocial, unsociable, distant, aloof, stand-offish, cold, detached, dour, sullen.

6. – Retrieve – निकालते

Meaning – get or bring (something) back from somewhere.

Usage – “I was sent to retrieve the balls from his garden”

Synonyms – get back, recover, regain (possession of), win back, recoup, reclaim, repossess, redeem, have returned; salvage, rescue, fetch, bring back; replevy; rarerecuperate.

7. – Slander – बदनामी

Meaning – make false and damaging statements about (someone).

Usage – “they were accused of slandering the head of state”

Synonyms – defame, defame someone’s character, blacken someone’s name, give someone a bad name, tell lies about, speak ill/evil of, drag through the mud/mire, throw/sling/fling mud at, sully someone’s reputation, libel, smear, run a smear campaign against, cast aspersions on, spread scandal about, besmirch, tarnish, taint, misrepresent; malign, traduce, vilify, calumniate, disparage

8. – Refurbish – नया करना

Meaning – renovate and redecorate (something, especially a building).

Usage – “the premises have been completely refurbished in our corporate style”

Synonyms – renovate, recondition, rehabilitate, revamp, make over, overhaul, restore, renew, develop, redevelop, rebuild, reconstruct, remodel; redecorate, brighten up, freshen up, spruce up; improve, upgrade, refit, fix up, re-equip; modernize, update

9. – Piquant – आकर्षक

Meaning – having a pleasantly sharp taste or appetizing flavour.

Usage – “a piquant tartare sauce”

Synonyms – spicy, tangy, spiced, peppery, hot; tasty, flavoursome, flavourful, appetizing, highly seasoned, savoury, pungent, sharp, tart, zesty, strong, salty; raresapid, flavorous.

10. – Nullify – अमान्य घोषित करना

Meaning – make legally null and void; invalidate.

Usage – “judges were unwilling to nullify government decisions”
