1. Envisage – imagine, विचारना
Meaning – contemplate or conceive of as a possibility or a desirable future event.
Synonyms – foresee, predict, forecast, foretell, anticipate, expect, think likely, envision; intend, propose etc.
Usage – “it was envisaged that such hospitals would be opened in all the principal towns”
2. Apt – capably, कुशलतापूर्वक
Meaning – appropriate or suitable in the circumstances.
Synonyms – suitable, fitting, appropriate, befitting, relevant, felicitous, congruous, fit, applicable, judicious, apposite, apropos etc.
Usage – “the theme could not be more apt”
3. Diligent – with hardwork, मेहनत से
Meaning – having or showing care and conscientiousness in one’s work or duties.
Synonyms – industrious, hard-working, assiduous; conscientious, particular, punctilious, meticulous, painstaking, rigorous, exacting, careful, thorough, sedulous.
Usage – “after diligent searching, he found a parcel”
4. Robust – strong, मजबूत
Meaning – (of an object) sturdy in construction.
Synonyms – durable, resilient, tough, hard-wearing, long-lasting, well made; sturdy, strong.
Usage – “a robust metal cabinet”
5. Prima facie – clearly, प्रत्यक्ष
Meaning – based on the first impression; accepted as correct until proved otherwise.
Usage – “a prima facie case of professional misconduct”
6. Perfunctorily – as a formality, यंत्रवत ढंग से
Meaning – (of an action) carried out without real interest, feeling, or effort.
Synonyms – cursory, desultory; quick, brief, hasty, hurried, rapid, passing, fleeting, summary; token, casual, superficial, uninterested, careless, half-hearted, unthinking, sketchy.
Usage – “he gave a perfunctory nod”
7. Cite – mention, उल्लेख
Meaning – refer to (a passage, book, or author) as evidence for or justification of an argument or statement, especially in a scholarly work.
Synonyms – quote, reproduce etc.
Usage – “authors who are highly regarded by their peers tend to be cited”
8. Devastating – destructive, विनाशकारी
Meaning – highly destructive or damaging.
Synonyms – destructive, ruinous, disastrous, catastrophic, calamitous, cataclysmic; pernicious, noxious, harmful, damaging, injurious, hurtful.
Usage – “a devastating cyclone”
9. Fragment – divided, विखंडित
Meaning – a small part broken off or separated from something.
Synonyms – piece, bit, particle, speck; chip, shard, sliver, splinter; shaving, paring, snippet, scrap, offcut, flake, shred, tatter, wisp, morsel, shiver, spillikin.
Usage – “small fragments of pottery”
10. Pellucid – transparent, पारदर्शी
Meaning – translucently clear.
Synonyms – translucent, transparent, clear, crystal clear, crystalline, bright, glassy, limpid, unclouded.
