With the news of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) – thermal power project in Chhattisgarh, it is expected that the power-crisis in the state would be brought to control to a great extent in the coming years.
- The 600-M.W project is commissioned at Dhabra. It is located in the Jangir-Champa district.
- The project is in cooperation with Dainik-Bhaskar-Power-Limited. It is expected to boost the company’s new thermal-power-plant that has plans of incorporating two units, with 600-M.W capacity.
- This is the second project taken by B.H.E.L in this region. The first project was executed in the year 2014.
- B.H.E.L gained immediately. Its stock index rose by more than 160 points immediately. It now stands at 29,044.44.

The growth of Thermal-Power-Plants in Chhattisgarh has been quite phenomenal in the recent-times. There are more than 30-40 projects which are coming up in the near future. The largest of them is the 4000-M.W-Power project in the SURGUJA-district of the state. The project sponsored by Power-Finance-Corporation-Limited is now in the implementation-stage.
Chhattisgarh is also supplying power to many other states throughout India. Karnataka, Andhra-Pradesh and Tamil-Nadu have been the main beneficiaries in South-India, while Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar-Pradesh and Bihar have been the major-beneficiaries in North-India.
