Forbes has released the 36th annual ranking of billionaires across the globe, Forbes World’s Billionaires List 2022, featuring 2,668 Billionaires from across the globe with a collective worth of USD 12.7 trillion, USD 400 billion less than in 2021. Forbes 2022 World’s Billionaire List was edited By Kerry A. Dolan And Chase Peterson-Withorn Presented By Richard Mille.
Elon Musk Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tesla and SpaceX has topped the list with a net worth of USD 219 billion, followed by the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, and Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE.
Elon Musk has topped the list for the first time.
- India’s Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has ranked 10th on the list with a net worth of USD 90.7 billion followed by Gautam Adani, head of Adani Group ranked 11th with a net worth of USD 90 billion.
- Mukesh Ambani is the only Indian among the top 10 on the list.

i.The list has features 236 newcomers who have become billionaires in 2021, which includes the first-ever billionaires from Barbados, Bulgaria, Estonia and Uruguay.
ii.United States of America(USA) lead the list with 735 billionaires worth a collective USD 4.7 trillion followed by China, including Macau and Hong Kong, with 607 billionaires with a collective USD 2.3 trillion.
iii.Russia and China have recorded a decrease in the number of billionaires. There are 34 fewer billionaires than in 2021 due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and 87 fewer Chinese billionaires following a government crackdown on tech companies.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited(RIL) has topped the Forbes list of India’s 10 Richest Billionaires 2022 with a net worth of USD 90.7 billion.
- Mukesh Ambani is followed by Gautam Adani, head of Adani Group, with a net worth of USD 90 billion and Shiv Nadar, Chairman Emeritus of HCL Technologies with a net worth of USD 28.7 Billion.
Note: The number of billionaires in India has increased from 140 in 2021 to a record high of 166 in 2022 and India’s top 10 richest are worth one-third more than a year ago.
