On 26th February 2021, Union Minister of Education, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ addressed the inaugural session of the 16th Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) Higher Education Summit 2021. On the occasion he also released the FICCI EY Report titled “Higher Education in India: 2040”.
Organizer – The Summit is being organised virtually by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(FICCI) in collaboration with Ministry of Education and Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The theme of the summit is ‘‘Higher Education @ 2030: R.I.S.E. – Resilience. Innovation. Sustainability. Enterprise.’
Highlights of Minister’s Address:
i.He highlighted the current trend in the higher education sector, paving the way for India to become a global superpower.
ii.Implementation of Global best practices in India’s Higher Education.
iii.Importance of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, that is built on foundational pillars of access, equity, quality, affordability & accountability.
iv.Sustainable Development Goal 4 – “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”, will be achieved by India through NEP 2020.
v.NEP 2020 will give a technological push to the 10 crore youths, who will enter the job market in the coming decade.
