The Government of India has appointed Durga Prasad as the Special Director General of Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF). Durga Prasad was a 1981-batch IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre and he served as Chief of Special Protection Group (SPG). As per the orders, he will be in office for next three years.

- CRPF also plays a major role in UN Peace keeping missions in other countries.Â
- SPG provides security to the Prime Minister, former Prime Ministers and their immediate family members.
