According to the Celebrity Brand Valuation Report 2021 (7th Edition) titled “Digital Acceleration 2.0.” released by Duff & Phelps (Now Kroll), Indian Cricketer Virat Kohli was ranked as India’s most valued celebrity for the 5th consecutive time in 2021. The brand value of Virat Kohli has dropped from USD 237.7 million in 2020 to USD 185.7 million in 2021.

  • In 2021 Virat Kohli has endorsed brands like Digit Insurance, Hyperice, Lux, and Vivo.
  • At present, he holds a portfolio of around 30 brands across various industries.

Highlights of the report:

i.Bollywood Actor Ranveer Singh has ranked 2nd with a brand value of USD 158.3 million followed by Actor Akshay Kumar in the 3rd position with a brand value of USD 139.6 million.

ii.Alia Bhatt has ranked 4th with a brand value of USD 68.1 million and has become the most valued female celebrity. She is the youngest celebrity among the top 10 and she is the most valued brand amongst female Bollywood actors. 

iii.Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni(MS Dhoni) is ranked 5th with a brand value of USD 61.2 million. His brand value has increased from USD 36.3 million in 2020 to USD 61.2 million in 2021. 

iv.With a total brand value of USD 22 million, Indian Olympian PV Sindhu(Badminton) has entered the Top 20 list. She is the ambassador for brands like Bank of Baroda, Bridgestone and Yonex.

Key Points:

i.The total brand value of the top 20 celebrities from India is at 1.2 billion in 2021, which is around 12.9% higher compared to the total brand value in 2020. 

ii.The total number of products endorsed by the top 20 celebrities has increased from 357 in 2020 to 376 in 2021. This increase is driven by the endorsements in new-age companies which grew to about 12% of the total endorsements.
