2025 List: This year list features approximately 236,000 researchers worldwide, highlighting their significant contributions and influence across diverse scientific disciplines.
Indian Faculty: This year, a total of 6,239 Indian faculty members have been named in the list under the ‘single-year category’. As per the report, 3,372 were alone recognized in the ‘career-long’ category.
Indian Institutions: Under the ‘single-year’ category, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) with 755 researchers, has emerged as the most represented Indian institute on the list; followed by more than 330 researchers from National Institutes of Technology (NITs); and 117 from Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru.

Global Collaborations: He has fostered collaborations with 18 universities worldwide including Chulalongkorn University (in Thailand), National University of Singapore (NUS), University Technology Malaysia, and various other top Korean universities.
- Through these collaborations, Dr. Ashokkumar continues to bolster India’s position in the Asian research network.
Research Work: He has authored over 130 research papers in leading international journals and his research work includes developing microalgae-based clean fuels, plastic-to-biofuel technologies, and sustainable waste recovery systems that can be scaled across developing countries.
Awards/Accolades: Dr. Ashokkumar had also received the ‘Brain Pool: Visiting Global Scientist Award’ by the National Research Foundation (NRF) of Korea.
Current Role: Currently, he is working as Professor and Head at the Centre for Waste Management and Renewable Energy, Saveetha University (SIMATS) in Chennai, TN.
